Trusting God requires a deliberate release of our desire to control every situation. It means believing that He knows what is best for us and surrendering our plans into His capable hands. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Start Each Day with Prayer: Begin your morning by asking God to guide your steps and help you trust His plan. Commit your concerns to Him and rest in the assurance of His care. “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3
Practice Gratitude: Keep a gratitude journal to focus on the blessings you have. Recognizing God’s provision in your life helps you trust Him for the future. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Meditate on Scripture: Reflect on verses like Jeremiah 29:11, which reminds us of God’s plans for hope and a future. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11. Or Psalm 46:10, which urges us to “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Surrender Through Worship: Use worship as a time to let go of control and focus on God’s greatness and sovereignty. Praise shifts your perspective from problems to His power. “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.” (Psalm 95:6-7)
Seek Godly Counsel: Surround yourself with mentors and friends who encourage you to trust God and let go of unnecessary burdens. If you do not yet watch Readings From The Road each morning, I strongly encourage you to do so. The readings can be found on the Facebook page Messages From The Road at 7:30 am each and every day.
Release Anxiety Through Action: When worry arises, channel it into action by serving others or engaging in a positive activity that reflects God’s love. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
Memorize Promises of God: Keep verses that speak of trust and peace close at hand, such as Isaiah 41:10. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
Celebrate Small Victories: Recognize and celebrate moments when you successfully trusted God in a situation, reinforcing your confidence in His faithfulness. “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Psalm 9:1
Embrace the Present: Focus on living fully in the moment rather than worrying about future outcomes. Trust that God is in control of every tomorrow. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34
Pray for a Trusting Heart: Continuously ask God to strengthen your trust and help you let go of the urge to control. Trust grows through daily reliance on His promises. “Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!'” Mark 9:24
Let go and let God take the lead, and you will find peace beyond what striving for control will ever give you.
