Loving like Jesus loved means embodying selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional love in every aspect of your life. His love was characterized by compassion, humility, forgiveness, and grace.
Helping those in need is one way we can love like Jesus did as it is central to reflecting God’s love because it demonstrates compassion, justice, and selflessness—core aspects of God’s character. Throughout Scripture, God consistently reveals His concern for the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable. Here’s why caring for the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable is essential to living out His love:
1. It Reflects God’s Heart
- God deeply cares for the outcasts of society and calls His people to do the same. “He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing” (Deuteronomy 10:18).
- When we serve the afflicted or vulnerable, we align ourselves with God’s priorities and reflect His compassion.
2. It Fulfills Jesus’ Teachings
- Jesus taught that loving and serving the least among us is the same as loving and serving Him. “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).
- To reflect God’s love, we must embrace a heart of service and care for those in need.

- Serving those less fortunate reflects the values of God’s kingdom, where love, justice, and equality reign. “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God” (Luke 6:20). By taking up their cause, we live out kingdom principles here on earth.
